Just a quick note tonight.
With Chanukah coming, many of us still feel we are somehow lost in the Jewish month of Tishrei.
In addition to our horror and grief at the events of October 7, there is also a bizarre disorientation in time itself. It’s not only the pain we have felt, but also the anticipated joy we missed.
While the normal cycle of the Jewish calendar has been up-ended for us this year, we can use what we have learned from living that cycle to support us right now. Our current journey of counting can be an opportunity — to bring our own unique light into Chanukah and into the world.
I hope my recent article, published this week in the blog of the Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance, will help you find your own light this Chanukah:
May we all find our own light in these difficult times, and may the light of Chanukah shine so brightly that it illuminates the whole world with the truth, clarity and wisdom we so desperately need right now.
Chag urim sameach!

I promise, it's really me, having woken early on a Sunday morning with the idea for this Counting article and unable to go back to sleep in my haste to write it all down. (No bot would know that but you do, right?) If you want to see more messages from me, please let your email service know I'm real and writing to you from my author account, evonnewrites@gmail.com.
